Music 2.0

MP3's are OLD, get hip with MT9 already

I'm not so sure I want to be an early adopter for this one yet, but apparently some smarty pants in Korea has come up with a new music format. Someone dubbed it "Music 2.0" and trendy people everywhere like it when you put a #.# after anything. Like "Hamburger 2.0" sure looks cool doesn't it, but if you don't go to any of the Hipster Joints you'd have to order it by it's old-foggie name "cheese burger".

Yep, it's what all the new hipsters are into, it's the coolness and got vibe daddy-o.

ok, heres the scoop:
MT9 is not a standard format yet so don't worry if you haven't adapted to it yet. It's probably( and hopefully) not going to be "the de-facto standard" anytime soon.

The real new difference with MT9 is that instead of just having plain old stereophonic, this new format is broken into 6 tracks. Each instrument or group of instruments can be split up. This means that the band can put vocals on track 1, bass on track 2, drums on Track 3, and so forth. Then if you like, you can tweek the audio however you like, boost the vocals and tune down the base or throw everything out and just listen to the drums doing a solo.

I haven't seen any word yet on whether or not each of those 6 tracks is in stereo or not.

This format would absolutely NOT be compatible with "ripping a CD". The only way to get music into this format is recording it off the Original Master Tracks. So of course your whole MP3 collection would be useless.

But here's the links anyway.

Unlimited multitrack audio format iKlax swoops under Korean formats feet!

Also running to become a standard at the MPEG group, iKlax has its software and audio format up and running. Moreover, it is strongly supported by a state of the art community site.

About iKlax
The iKlax format is a multi-track digital audio format allowing various actions on musical data, for instance on mixing and volumes arrangements.

Within this new interactive system for listeners, it is fundamental to note that the iKlax technology allows artists to set constraints limiting the artistic changes to their work, by the listener.
