Police wake man at 3 a.m. to warn of unlocked door

gist of it.... guy was sleeping and woke up because a couple of Policemen were in his his bedroom to tell him his garage door was open, his keys were in his car ignition and the front door was unlocked.

He isn't a criminal, he wasn't breaking any laws, but they just thought they'd walk in and let him know. How friendly of them to just waltz into his home like that!

Ahhh.... Safety!

The United States Constitution
Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Q: why is it that back in the 1700's laws and amendments were generally less than a paragraph and now (almost) every one comes as a 600 page document?

Sleep tight!
